Garage Flooring FAQs

  • How long do coatings last?

Coatings are designed to last a long time. Although they may lose their shine over time, the coating itself should last between 15-20 years.

  • Are there different types of coatings?

There are several types of coatings. They come in different brands, colors, and qualities. If you are getting a garage floor coating, make sure that the contractor is using a high-solids product that is not water-based.

  • How long does flooring installation take?

The time it takes to install a garage floor coating depends on the size of the floor, the condition of the concrete, and how much prep work needs to be done. Most floors can be completed within 2 days.

  • How do I clean my garage floor?

You can use a soft-bristled broom to sweep the floor. If you have harsh substances like road salt that have dried on the epoxy coating, you can use a mild soap and water solution and scrub it with a deck brush.

  • What are the benefits of floor coating?

Floor coating is extremely durable. It is resistant to chemicals, scratches, oil, and more. Walking on this type of flooring is much safer than normal flooring too as it is slip-resistant. Maintaining it is a breeze with regular sweeping and occasional cleaning using a mild soap and water solution.

  • What is the difference between polyaspartic and epoxy flooring?

Epoxy flooring is more affordable, dries faster, and is resistant to fading from UV exposure, while polyaspartic flooring is more resistant to scratches, can take longer to dry, and is vulnerable to fading from UV exposure.

  • When will metallic flooring in a garage work and when won’t it?

If you are willing to spend a little more for durable and unique garage flooring, metallic flooring may be right for you. However, metallic flooring is more slippery, so if spills tend to happen in your garage, you may want to consider another option. And while the overall appearance is unique and aesthetically appealing, metallic flooring is more prone to scratches, and imperfections more visible. Lastly, metallic flooring is more difficult to touch up than normal garage flooring due to its complex appearance. Consider all of these factors to decide if metallic garage flooring is right for you.
